If you’re staying with us this spring, it’s a lovely time to get out and explore a bit more of the area. Things start to feel a bit busier again, and there are usually a few events happening within an easy drive.
We’d always recommend having a quick search before your stay, but here are a few things across the next few months to give you an idea of what’s happening nearby…
Lambing season is in full swing π
From mid-March onwards, you’ll start to notice lambs appearing all over the place, one of the nicest parts of spring in the Dales. Some local farms do open up for visitors, so it’s worth having a quick look online before you arrive if that’s something you’d like to do.
Yorkshire Dales Rally π
(29th March 2026)
If you’re staying right at the end of March, this is happening locally around Leyburn. It brings a bit of a buzz to the area for the day, with rally cars running on closed roads through Wensleydale and Swaledale.
Harrogate Spring Flower Show πΈ
(23rd – 26th April 2026)
This is probably one of the bigger events nearby and takes places just under an hour away from us. It’s a really nice place to wander around, lots of garden displays, shopping, food and drink, and just a good excuse for a day out somewhere different.
Richmond MayFest π
(1st–4th of May 2026)
This is a lovely local one and well worth a look if you’re staying over the early May bank holiday. Richmond MayFest is a relaxed, community-led festival with a mix of live music, performances, workshops and family-friendly events spread across the town.
There’s also an opening event on the evening of Friday, the 1st of May, so it’s something you can dip in and out of across the weekend. Definitely one to have a look at online before your stay to see what’s on, and hopefully we get a bit of sunshine for it this year too.π€
Swaledale Festival πΏ
(23rd May to early June 2026)
This one is local and well worth knowing about if you’re staying towards the end of May. It’s a mix of music, arts and walking events spread across Swaledale – lots of small, relaxed events in beautiful locations rather than anything too busy or overwhelming.
And of course… just enjoy being here. Not everything needs to be planned. Spring is a great time to slow things down, go for a walk, find a nice pub, or just sit outside your pod and take in the views.
We’d always recommend having a quick browse online before your stay to see what’s on during your exact dates. There’s often more happening than you might expect.
If you need any recommendations whilst you’re here, just let us know. π
