Our Story

Our farm is located in Redmire, approximately 5 miles from the market town of Leyburn, in Wensleydale. Wensleydale Glamping enjoys panoramic views of Wensleydale, the surrounding dales and Penhill. The name Redmire means Reedy Marsh and the church you pass on the way to our farm has a ﬁne carved Norman door that is almost 1,000 years old!

Woodend Farm is a traditional, family-run livestock farm and has been farmed by the family for generations. In addition to farming 500 sheep and 30 cattle, Colin and his wife Janet recently made the decision to diversify in order to ensure a sustainable farming business for their sons and for future generations..

With the farm boasting stunning views set elevated in the valley of Wensleydale, the opportunity to diversify into the tourism industry presented itself. The idea began back in 2017 when Mark and his family took a trip to the Lakes. Whilst there they stayed in a pod and went on to visit The Original Pod Company near Kendal.

This got Mark thinking; if we can combine our passion for farming and love of the countryside, we could create something very unique to Wensleydale. Eighteen months later, Wensleydale Glamping was born and with the farm benefitting from breath-taking views, we are ideally situated to offer accommodation to walkers, cyclists and families visiting the area

The site is conveniently placed some distance away from the working farm, however, you will, from time to time, experience the usual countryside noises; bleating sheep, mooing cows, the early dawn chorus and tractors working in the fields. We would be delighted to give you a guided tour of the farm and introduce you to our animals by prior arrangement, but for your own safety, please do not venture onto the farm unaccompanied. There are numerous footpaths on the doorstep which will enable you to explore the fields, wander in West Wood or maybe a stroll to Bolton Castle; please follow the Countryside Code and shut all gates to avoid animals escaping on to the road.
